It’s a Guided meditation practice where a person is made to listen to range of musical notes produced by instruments like- gongs, Tibetan singing bowls and tuning forks in order to relax your mind and body. It is a non-invasive, simple, and cost-effective therapeutic tools.
Why SHM?
It can be practice by individuals who are experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety. It is an easy and safe meditation practice.
Sound healing meditation is easy. Mind relaxes instantly when it listens to harmonic tones, without much effort. And a relaxed mind and body has the ability to look at situations more objectively. It makes the mind more creative and flexible.
Other meditation techniques like observing breath, watching candle flame, chanting a mantra, (unguided meditations) can be difficult for those who are experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety. For these category of people, relaxing meditation techniques are highly recommended by health experts.
On the other hand, a person experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety has lot of physical discomfort like pain in head, body pain, fatigue, tiredness, indigestion difficult to sleep. In such conditions un-guided meditations is not advised by health experts. It’s better that such category of individuals must do yoga asanas and relaxing meditation technique like sound meditations.
NOTE:- For chronic stress and anxiety, 3 days basic meditation course is advised. SHM can be practice but it needs to customized after taking complete mental and physical health history.

I strongly suggest Yoga psychotherapy curriculum (YPC) for all those who have tried many alternate healing modalities but have not experienced lo lasting positive changes.
Possibility of mental and physical healing from psychosomatic disease’s is very high if a person chooses to do a combination of YPC and SHM
Details of YPC is given in the link
